چکیده

AIM
Fungal sinusitis is a disease that was previously considered rare disease, but has recently been reported with increasing frequency in warm climates. classification evolved over the past two decades and said to include five subtypes. Discrimination of different subtypes knowing their radiological features are important for accurate rapid diagnosis initiation appropriate treatment. In our study, we aimed investigate whether there difference between findings AFS newly defined finding may help AFS; serrated turbinate those literature.

 MATERIALS AND METHODS
Our study included 120 patients who underwent paranasal sinus computed tomography examination center January 2019 September 2021. Patients diagnosed as result allergic tests and/or fungal culture examinations were first group, non-AFS rhinosinusitis second group. Presence appearence, polyps, bone erosion, CT hyperdensity evaluated images.
 RESULTS
The compaired appearence found be statistically signifant (p0.05).
 CONCLUSION
showed useful marker AFS. Bone erosion should seperately from other morphological structural changes structure, density measurements specified opacification.

Allergic fungal sinusitis: radiological and microbiological features of 59 cases.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Allergic fungal sinusitis (AFS) is a relatively newly recognized entity consisting of a pansinusitis with allergic mucinous infiltrates in all involved sinuses. Historically mistaken for a paranasal sinus tumor, AFS is believed to be an allergic reaction to aerolized environmental fungi, usually of dematiaceous and Aspergillus species, in an immunocompetent host. We de...

Allergic Fungal Sinusitis in Children

Allergic fungal sinusitis (AFS) is a benign, extramucosal, noninvasive fungal sinus disease representing an allergic/hypersensitivity response to extramucosal fungal pathogens in the sinus [1]. It occurs mainly in immunocompetent patients, in contrast to invasive fungal diseases that usually involve an immunocompromised host. The incidence of AFS in patients affected by chronic rhinosinusitis a...

Novel treatment of allergic fungal sinusitis using omalizumab

A case report of recalcitrant allergic fungal sinusitis (AFS) refractory to systemic corticosteroids and multiple functional endoscopic sinus surgeries (FESSs) treated with anti-IgE antibody omalizumab is reported. AFS is often classified with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). Although similar symptoms are among the two diseases, AFS has a unique pathophysiology. Patients with AFS demonstrate type ...
